Dubai Charity Association participated in a session titled "Integrating Technology in Charity Work and Emergency Response" as part of the Dubai International Humanitarian Aid and Development Conference and Exhibition (DIHAD 2025). The association highlighted the increasingly vital role of technology in enhancing charitable and humanitarian efforts and improving emergency response, reflecting the ability of modern societies to unite and cooperate in the face of the most difficult challenges.
In his speech during the session, which witnessed a notable attendance of humanitarian experts and technology enthusiasts, H.E. Ahmed Al Suwaidi, Executive Director of Dubai Charity Association, emphasized that in a world rapidly moving toward digital transformation, it has become imperative for those working in the humanitarian sector to harness this technological revolution in service of the noble goals of charitable and humanitarian work. The use of technology is no longer a luxury, but a vital necessity to enhance effectiveness, expand impact, and accelerate response to crises and disasters
H.E. Ahmed Al Suwaidi noted that in emergency situations, every second is an opportunity to save a life, highlighting the critical importance of integrating technology into emergency response. This begins with early warning systems using satellites, remote sensing, and artificial intelligence technologies. Then come smartphones and social media as lifelines connecting rescue teams with those affected. Drones and satellite imagery can provide accurate damage assessments and identify needs, while GPS systems and logistical applications help guide and efficiently distribute aid convoys.
H.E. Ahmed Al Suwaidi added: "The path toward integrating technology into charitable work and emergency response may not be paved with roses; we may face some challenges along the way. However, our belief in our ability to overcome them must remain steadfast. We must work together to ensure that these technologies reach all segments of society, protect the data and privacy of beneficiaries, and invest in training our teams to use these tools efficiently and effectively.
