The Community Awareness and Education Department, in collaboration with the Human Resources Department at Dubai Charity Association, organized a lecture titled 'Ethics in the Workplace.' The lecture was delivered by renowned Emirati scholar Dr. Jassim Al Marzouqi, a consultant in psychological and family therapy. The event was attended by His Excellency Ahmed Al Suwaidi, Executive Director of Dubai Charity Association, along with heads of departments, organizational units, and a group of the Association’s staff
The lecture, held in the events hall at the Association’s headquarters, aimed to raise awareness about the importance of professional and ethical values in the workplace. It highlighted the pivotal role ethics play in building healthy and productive work environments, emphasizing that work ethics are among the key factors for the success of any institution. They form an integral part of workplace culture and encourage productivity, creativity, and excellence.
Dr. Jassim Al Marzouqi stated that professional ethics are a set of principles and values applied in the workplace, emphasizing that they are not merely behavioral rules, but rather an integrated system of values that define how employees interact with their work, colleagues, clients, and society as a whole
Dr. Al Marzouqi explained how professional ethics—such as positivity, happiness, integrity, and transparency—contribute to strengthening trust between employees and management, as well as between the institution and its clients. This leads to the development of sustainable working relationships and a significantly deeper sense of loyalty—up to 60% higher—compared to environments lacking these ethical values, according to a study conducted by the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation.
Dr. Al Marzouqi explained the direct relationship between ethical commitment and the improvement of performance quality and productivity. He noted that an ethically committed employee tends to be dedicated to their work and strives for excellence, which positively impacts the final outcomes. Studies show that such employees achieve a 31% increase in productivity and a 300% improvement in their capacity for innovation
During the lecture, Dr. Al Marzouqi shared real-life examples of ethical challenges individuals may encounter throughout their professional careers. He also provided practical guidance on how to handle such situations with professionalism and integrity. Dr. Al Marzouqi emphasized the responsibility of institutions to promote ethical values within their organizations, create an environment that encourages ethical behavior, and reward employees who uphold these values
