A high-level delegation from Dubai Charity Association has successfully concluded a two-week field mission across West Africa, covering the Republic of Benin and the Republic of Togo. The visit aimed to monitor the implementation and assess the impact of humanitarian and development projects—both completed and ongoing—funded by the generous donors and "Ambassadors of Good" from the United Arab Emirates.
The delegation was headed by H.E. Ahmed Al Suwaidi, Chief Executive Officer of Dubai Charity Association, and included Mr. Mahmoud Sahlabji, Director of Resource Development Department; Eng. Wissam Aribi, Head of the International Projects Section; and Mr. Mohammed Ibrahim from the Projects Department.
Throughout 2025 and the first six months of 2026, Dubai Charity has been implementing a comprehensive portfolio of sustainable development projects across both countries, with many already completed and others currently under implementation.
In the Republic of Benin, the projects included the construction of 787 mosques, 7 residential complexes, 46 Quran Memorization Centers, and 27 educational facilities and initiatives. The Association also drilled 68 water wells, established 9 healthcare clinics and 26 health-related projects, launched 31 income-generating family projects, implemented 850 poverty alleviation initiatives, established 48 mosque endowments (Waqf), and completed 5 projects supporting People of Determination.
In the Republic of Togo, Dubai Charity implemented a fully integrated model village comprising 80 homes, a mosque, a school, two water wells, a Quran Memorization Center, and eight Waqf commercial shops. Additional projects included the construction of 52 mosques, 18 water wells, an orphanage, and five houses for underprivileged families. These efforts were complemented by 39 income-generating family projects, 147 poverty reduction initiatives, 198 mosque endowments, 2 projects supporting People of Determination, as well as 8 educational projects and 18 healthcare initiatives.
During the mission, the delegation held a series of productive meetings with UAE diplomatic missions and local implementation partners. The visit also included extensive field inspections and direct meetings with beneficiaries to evaluate their essential needs across several regions in Benin, including Porto-Novo, Klouékanmè, Cotonou, and Sakété, as well as multiple locations in Togo, including Adokobe, Délfi, Djablé, Kéblé, Kpoto, and other surrounding communities.
Commenting on the visit, H.E. Ahmed Al Suwaidi, Chief Executive Officer of Dubai Charity Association, expressed his sincere appreciation to the UAE diplomatic missions in Benin and Togo for their valuable support throughout the mission. He emphasized that the field visit reflects the Association's strong commitment to transparency, governance, and accountability, ensuring that donors' contributions reach beneficiaries with the highest levels of efficiency and integrity.
H.E. Al Suwaidi also expressed his pride in the positive outcomes observed during the field assessments and the remarkable impact of the UAE donors' generosity. He noted that mosques and schools have become centers of learning and community development, while water wells have transformed the lives of thousands of families by providing reliable access to clean water.
He further stated that the findings and recommendations derived from the mission will serve as a cornerstone for Dubai Charity's strategic transition from seasonal humanitarian assistance toward long-term economic empowerment and sustainable development initiatives that enable families to become self-reliant.
"I would like to reassure every generous donor that their trust is managed with the highest standards of professionalism, precision, and accountability," H.E. Al Suwaidi said. "Dubai Charity remains committed to embodying the UAE's pioneering humanitarian values and strengthening the country's distinguished global leadership in charitable and development work."
